This month we're focussing on the upper back, neck and shoulder.
Trigger points are tight spots within a muscle and one of the most common places these occur are in the upper trapezius muscle situated at the lower part of your neck.
Here is a simple upper tapezius stretch that you can add into your daily routine to help relieve tension.
Tight upper traps not only cause discomfort in the neck and shoulder region but can refer pain down the arm and be a cause of headaches and migraines. This simple 30 second stretch will lengthen the muscle and reduce the chances of pain and migraines occurring.
Simply stop at the point of the stretch being felt, over stretching may cause more discomfort. Three holds of 30 seconds should be sufficient.
